Give Day is an opportunity to celebrate the programs that enrich life at UC Santa Barbara. Supporting our students, helping researchers flourish, preserving the coastal landscape we hold dear: UCSB Campus & Community Initiatives make all feel welcome at our campus.
On Give Day, support one of the participating programs: UCSB Affiliates, UCSB Sustainability, UCSB Guardian Scholars, The Club, and North Campus Open Space.
A Story of Community
As an environmental leader, UC Santa Barbara is inspiring change. We have prioritized sustainability and have made a conscious effort to approach environmental issues head on by creating innovative solutions to improve the environment.
We use the campus as a living lab where everyone has a role to play in making the campus sustainable. We foster a culture of sustainability through supporting campus-wide efforts, coordinating program development, and publicizing sustainability work by students, staff, and faculty.
Join Jack and Kim Johnson and the Johnson Ohana Foundation in supporting the Edible Campus Initiative which aims to address food insecurity locally, especially for students, while promoting sustainability as a whole within food systems. This initiative also builds educational programs that address social, environmental, and economic aspects of the food system. Join us as we encourage individuals to reclaim their personal connection to the land and their food, to learn sustainable and permaculture farming and gardening practices, and to better understand the connection between food waste, soil, and the food that nourishes our community. Gifts to this fund will support innovative projects which re-purpose underutilized spaces for food production for those in need, such as the Campus Farm, Urban Orchard, and Vertical Garden projects.
