A Story of Passion and Exploration

Nestled at the tip of Campus Point at UC Santa Barbara’s Marine Science Institute, the REEF is a unique interactive research experience and education facility designed to provide students and visitors with an unparalleled view of our ocean.

 

The REEF sparks the curiosity of its visitors of all ages and backgrounds. How do shark eggs develop? How does a sea cucumber protect itself? What is the status of the abalone population? 

 

These are just a few stories our passionate and trained REEF undergraduate student interns EXPLORE with the tens of thousands of annual visitors! Preparing our students to become effective scientific communicators and educators is more important than ever.
