Education Abroad Program
The EAP Journey

The Education Abroad Program is UC Santa Barbara’s gateway to the world, providing opportunities for students in over 40 countries across the globe. Studying abroad brings with it more than an augmentation of classroom knowledge.  It entails immediate experiences of difference and testing of assumptions about the self and others in new settings  For many of our students, the outcome is a transformation that shapes their lives for years to come.

“Increasingly, what our students take away from their study abroad experience is matched by what they seek to offer through participation in internships, research projects, and volunteering. They become engaged in ways like teaching English, refugee assistance, public health, marketing, studying the effects of climate change, diplomacy, and policy making, all of which help make the world a better place for all.  EAP students embody globalized learning at UC Santa Barbara and foster greater awareness about the world at large in the community and in the workplace.”

—Juan Campo, Faculty Director for UCSB EAP

Although the COVID-19 pandemic continues to pose challenges for studying abroad, we are working to keep the dream alive.  Students were able to participate in EAP again during fall 2021 and our 2022-23 programs are moving forward.  We are grateful that our students once again have the opportunity to take advantage of this life-changing experience.

Each year, students apply to study abroad and then withdraw due to financial need. You can help us change that.

Please consider making a gift today so that the transformative EAP journey is available to every UC Santa Barbara student!
