Campus & Community Initiatives

Capital Internship Program

The UCSB Capital Internship Program provides students with the unique opportunity to explore our culturally diverse state and national capitals, Sacramento and Washington, D.C., while simultaneously offering crucial career experience.  Where it's policy, art, activism, or science, our capitals have so much to offer!

Support from Capital Internship alumni, friends, and parents like you make these dreams a reality.  Your gifts are extremely importan to the succes of this program and the resources we make available to our students.  Students apply for the program each year and then withdraw due to financial need.  We hope you will help us chang that today on Give Day.

UCSB Sustainability

UCSB Sustainability is a collection of efforts from staff, students, administrators, and faculty across the campus. We encourage and coordinate the efforts of faculty, staff, and students who are the frontline of positive change by taking action today for a better tomorrow. By working with all sectors of the campus community, we help UC Santa Barbara maintain its leadership and attain its shared vision of a sustainable future through our Edible Campus Program, Carbon Neutrality Initiative, Sustainability Student Internship Fund, and Green Initiative Match Fund.

Guardian Scholars

The Guardian Scholars Program at UC Santa Barbara currently supports approximately 180 students. The program helps to ensure that incoming students have a smooth transition into the campus community and are provided with a network of services to enhance their educational experience.

UCSB Affiliates

The UCSB Affiliates Scholarship & Fellowship Fund supports both the Affiliates Transfer Student Scholarships and Graduate Fellowships that provide financial support for deserving undergraduate and graduate students who are deeply committed to their higher education.

History Associates

The History Associates Graduate Fellowship provides critical support for graduate students at any stage in their graduate careers. The History Associates, with advice from the History Department, make awards each year to support the next generation of history scholars with their travel and research.

Pre-College Programs: The Research Mentorship Program and Summer Research Academies

UC Santa Barbara's Research Mentorship Program is a competitive six-week summer program that engages qualified, high-achieving high school students from all over the world in interdisciplinary, hands-on, university-level research. Students will be paired up with a mentor (graduate student, postdoc, or faculty) and choose a research project from a large list of disciplines offered by the program each year.

UC Santa Barbara's Summer Research Academies offer a dynamic summer experience that engages qualified high school students in project-based directed research in STEM, the humanities, and social sciences fields. Students will take a four-unit university course in which they choose and develop a research topic specific to the track they select, under the direction of an instructor who is conducting active research in the field.

Center for Science and Engineering Partnership

CSEP, a one-stop shop for UC Santa Barbara scientists and engineers, designs and evaluates training programs for UCSB students and researchers.

Professional Women's Association

The Barbara S. Uehling Fund, the first female Chancellor of UC Santa Barbara, was established to honor her efforts in advocating for the advancement of women and others from underrepresented backgrounds in higher education. Gifts to this fund support non-traditional students with financial need on their path to achieving their academic and career goals.

Senior Class Gift

We are grateful for the traditions and legacies made possible by senior class gifts. The 24-Hour Study Room at the UCSB Library, Student Safety programs, and Alumni Scholarship funds have all been enhanced by philanthropy from previous classes, and it’s time for the Class of 2025 to leave their legacy.
